Five Added Benefits of Rain Water Harvesting

Rainwater harvesting is the process of accumulating and keeping rain water for use rather than letting it run off. Rain water presents an privately owned and no cost water resource that delivers many different ways the water can be utilized. The following are 5 best things about gathering rain water.

Eliminates A water surge and Corrosion

Harvesting rainwater can help the natural environment in a lot of ways. To start with, it could reduce deterioration around downspouts whilst in the garden areas. It could possibly control storm water run-off. Rainwater doesn’t bring about scale and deterioration as hard water does. The gathering of rainwater may well decrease flooding in a number of neighborhoods at the same time.

Reduces Water Bills

Water collecting doesn't only assist individuals spend less on their own water bills but sometimes can get lower rates for entire neighbourhoods.

The cost to provide mains and general water solutions is often considerably more affordable whenever lots of people in a single regional community use water harvesting.

Having a supply of water can also greatly reduce dependence on local suppliers should the water gets contaminated. Rain water can be used as the prime way to get water or to provide a back-up source as required.

Will Reduce Demand on Ground Water

Resources for ground water have been drained in many neighborhoods around the globe. Digging deeper water bores it isn't just expensive but could contribute to environmental damage for instance collapsing the dirt from where the precious water had previously been.

What products do insulation experts recommend?

Being insulation experts we only use the best products to help ensure we keep your home cool in summer and warm in winter while putting less strain on your heaters and air-conditioning units. Aerolite and isotherm are by far the 2 best insulation products we have on the South African market.

Think pink aerolite

Think pink aerolite is a glass fibre product that has been around for many years and the most tried and tested ceiling insulation in the world. Aerolite has a good R-value (heat flow through the product) and its soundproofing properties are exceptional. It is also non-combustible being made of glass.

Isotherm insulation

Isotherm insulation is a relatively new product in comparison, it is the more eco-friendly insulation of the two, being made from polyester it doesn't have any fibres and is 100% safe to use and install. The isotherm R-value is very similar to that of think pink aerolite but the product is slightly more expensive being made of an eco-friendly polyester.

Think green insulation Johannesburg and Pretoria

Think green insulation is a polyester insulation that is very similar to isotherm polyester. Think green insulation is made the same way isotherm is made, from recycled PET bottles but because it is made by a smaller company, we can get a slightly cheaper think green insulation price.

The R-value of think green insulation is slightly lower than that of think pink aerolite and isotherm ceiling insulation but the product is very effective and if you looking at it from a cost-effective point of view, think green insulation price is more affordable. We have think green insulation installers in Johannesburg and Pretoria.

Suppliers and installers

Remember that just because a company is will to give you a cheap think green insulation price, aerolite insulation price or isotherm insulation price, does not mean that that is the best route to go. Always use the preferred insulation installers when having your home properly insulated. Insulation Experts like home insulations will always be insured and have the official installer status with the main suppliers.

Don't be scared to ask the question, Always ask the insulation expert if they have the official install status and whether or not the can prove it. The last thing you need once you have selected the insulation material you are going to use in your roof is a so-called "insulation expert" that does not have official installer status and is not insured for damages that may occur while insulating your roof. Visit our insulation installer page for more information on selecting the right insulation expert for the job.

Eco-friendly Insulation

We have noticed a steady increase in the sales of polyester insulation, namely isotherm insulation. With isotherm being the only 100% eco-friendly insulation product on the market, more and more people are shifting across to this product. Read more on eco-friendly insulation here.

Why is isotherm more eco-friendly than other insulations?

Well to start off, isotherm is made from a polyester, that has been produced from recycled PET bottles. It does not have any of the chemicals that you find in the cellulose fibre insulation, which you can read more on here. In fact, it is so user-friendly you could use isotherm polyester insulation as a duvet on a cold night and won't have a problem.

Isotherm doesn't have any of the fibres that aerolite insulation is made out of either. The fibreglass is not harmful to you if you have it installed but it is advised to wear a dust mask if you enter your roof to do maintenance. The same with cellulose, it has been chemically treated in order to make it fire retardant so you will need to wear a dust mask when entering your roof.

Having eco-friendly insulation installed in your home

Installing eco-friendly insulation in your home helps you to conserve energy. Insulation acts as a barrier to heat gain and heat loss, especially through the floors, roofs, ceilings and walls. Insulation reduces the exchange of heat through surfaces and orifices such as walls, floors, ceilings and attic.

When a home is properly insulated, less cool air needed to keep the home cool will escape from the house during the hot summer season and less warm air needed to warm up the home will be allowed to escape from the house during the cold, chilly winter season. Read more on people using more isotherm here.

Think Green Insulation Johannesburg and Pretoria

There is another eco-friendly product called think green insulation. We have installers of think green insulation in Johannesburg and Pretoria. Think green insulation is a similar product to isotherm insulation except it is made by a smaller company and the r-value of think green insulation is slightly lower than that of isotherm.

If you are working on a budget then think green insulation Johannesburg and Pretoria will work out nicely for you. Isotherm insulation is the Rolls Royce of eco-friendly polyester insulation but it does come with a price tag.

If you are looking for a think green insulation price or isotherm insulation price, give Home Insulations a call. We can help you choose the right product that suite your budget.

Does aerolite and isotherm contain chemicals?

Aerolite and isotherm roof insulation contain no harmful chemicals. You might get a bit itchy if you work with aerolite insulation as it is a fiberglass product, and a dust musk must be worn when it is installed, but the fiberglass will have no affect on you once it has been installed in your roof.

Polyester insulation is the only insulation that we have in South Africa at the moment that does not contain any chemicals or loose fiber strands.
